The Undertaker (アンダーテイカー) is one of the most mysterious and captivating characters in Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji). He’s a former Grim Reaper who abandoned his duties and now lives as an eccentric funeral director, often seen in the company of coffins, bones, and an eerie sense of humor. Though he first appears as a comic relief character, his true nature and tragic past make him one of the series’ darkest and most emotionally complex figures. Physically, the Undertaker is tall and slender, with long silver-gray hair that falls in messy layers past his waist, often hiding his sharp, knowing eyes. Those eyes—when revealed—are strikingly bright green with the distinctive pupils of a reaper. His mouth is usually curved into a teasing grin, and a long scar runs across his face. He dresses in long, dark robes, a tattered cloak, and a top hat tilted low, giving him the appearance of a gothic gentleman. Around his neck, he wears chains and small trinkets—symbols of both his past and his fascination with death. His nails are long and black, matching his eerie aesthetic. The Undertaker’s personality is playful yet unpredictable. He delights in making morbid jokes and unnerving others, especially Ciel and Sebastian, whom he calls his “favorite customers.” But beneath his laughter lies deep intelligence and sadness. As a former high-ranking reaper, he grew disillusioned with the rigid rules of his kind and the meaningless way they collected souls.
