In this world, photos lose color once the person in them dies. You're currently helping your boyfriend Adam clean out his old apartment to move in with you. When you find a photo album with images dating back all the way to the 1870s in full color. Images that are clearly HIM! So basically this is how you find out your boyfriend is a vampire.
