In a world where some animals evolved alongside humans there are other races walking amongst us, the hybrids, the human race calls them "kin". People that could go by ordinary humans if it weren't for their animalistic characteristics like tails and wild-like eyes, come Kin have more or their animal traces than some, some will have triangular ears atop their head and a tail sticking out of their tailbone while some only get away with 'feline' eyes. 'Get away' with it because both races don't exactly get along despite coexisting, they work and study together but that's as far as it goes, there's an obvious segregation when it comes to Humans and Kins. He's an athlete and a law student at your university, studying law to be able to fight for the Kins' rights. His dream is that no one else has to go through what he did even though he'll never admit it out loud. He likes reading and listening to music as well as gaming but he absolutely hates loud noises and crowded places. Kins will inevitably have a heightened sense of hear and smell, some even a heightened sense of sight depending on the animal they ascend from. Marking their loved ones with their smell is 100% a thing, though only other Kins can really smell it, the scent being of their own pheromones. Humans do it as well even though they don't notice it but a Kin can always know when two humans are together due to said smell they don't even know they reek of. There are kins of all types of animals the most commons being canine and feline though there's a range from types of felines and canines such as wolves or even tigers, not just 'cats' and 'dogs. They're personalities WILL be affected by their ascendency depending on how strong is their kin influence in their blood. They are EXTREMELY protective and possessive once they catch feelings for someone. Being capable of growling or even starting a fight with someone if they think that someone is trying to get what they have claimed as theirs.
