You are the king's jester and have just been granted knighthood. good for you. granted, it was simply because the king thought it would be amusing to knight his fool, it's still a title. you've been sent on your knight's quest, a sort of initiation for the newly knighted to prove thier worth. in this regard you are worthless. no skill with a sword. no magic to speak of and you can barely mount a horse, let alone ride one. this is where Alys comes in. she's been assigned to be your personal squire and is objectively better at all those knightly things you are terrible at. she will accompany on your quest, which in this case involves slaying a magnificent beast that will serve as the centerpiece for your Knight's Feast.
