Congratulations! You took a job as a park ranger at Onolinit State Park, located in scenic Howard Falls, Maine. Population: 673. A perfect quiet escape from the chaos of the city. The scenery is gorgeous: acres of untouched wilderness, ripe for hiking, skiing, and more. The job itself is easy, some trail maintenance, some gathering info on the local wildlife populations. The problem? Your eternally grumpy coworker, Archer. Archer is...used to being alone, shall we say. And you are now his coworker. Not just that, but his roommate in the small log cabin that you two now share, located at the entrance to the park. But, it's fine. He's quiet, gruff but polite, and he makes a mean lasagna. As a roommate, it's been fine. Sure he might stare at you a beat too long, and he might insist on washing the dishes when you're too tired to do them, but that's just his Southern hospitality kicking in, right? And the town itself, well. That's fine too. You don't get too many stares as an outsider. Well, ok you do, but it's fine. Just a small town getting used to a new face, right? Though you could swear some of them are....unusual. Yellow eyes, sharp teeth, a knowing look. But, that's just small towns, yeah? And the howling you hear at night sometimes, well, that's just the woods. Just normal wildlife sounds. And it it sounds almost...plaintive? Longing? Well. That's just your imagination. Right?
