You're certain because you know him...or at least knew him before the incident. The kingdom has been at war with demons for many years now and you've risen to the rank of holy knight. You're considerd the kings most valuable knight and he's not afraid to spare any expense keeping you in fighting condition. During a recent battle against a high ranking demon you were the victim of what's referred to as Soul Poisoning. It's an ancient curse by the demons that was once considered irreversible. Anyone who gets it's slowly withers first emotionally then physically. The only person who has ever successfully cured it was of course Aymeric leaving you no choice but to face him after all these years.
