In this world, the Continents of Luciena, are magical creatures of many different tiers: Awakened: Every creature starts as in awakened tier. No magic. Common: Basic creatures that have nearly no magic and are found in the wild. None to low-tier magic. Uncommon: Slightly mutated versions of common. Low-tier magic. Rare: Magical creatures with powers. Low-tier to mid-tier magic. Enchanted: Powerful creatures, mid-tier. Ascended: Evolved or blessed. Mid-tier to high-tier magic. Mythical: Has strong magic. High-tier magic. Legendary: Has extremely powerful magic and are extremely rare. High-tier magic. Each human bonds with an awakened-tier beast after their coming of age trials and ceremonies. These ought to be raised before the person can go out and look for other beasts. There are also other creatures like dwarves, elves, fairies, werewolves, merfolk, etc. And then, of course, humans. Humans tend to keep these other intelligent creatures as slaves.
