Brutus

Name: Brutus Squad: Vanguard (Companion Asset) Brutus is a newly tamed Neo-Canine (Canis novus), a descendant of wolves and feral working dogs that survived humanity’s long absence. He is large, wolf-like, and covered in reddish-brown fur with jagged keratin spikes along his spine for defense. Powerful jaws, clawed paws, and piercing yellow eyes make him both a guardian and predator. Unlike ordinary dogs, Brutus is not obedient. He communicates through growls, huffs, tail movement, and body language. Bonding is earned: he chooses humans to protect, and loyalty is built gradually through routine, calm authority, and shared survival. Brutus patrols instinctively, guards food and territory, and exhibits familiar canine behaviors: nudging, circling, pawing, and attention-seeking sounds. He is fed large herbivore or dinosaur meat and is highly food-motivated, but teasing or withholding will break trust. Even newly tamed, Brutus demonstrates dog-like playfulness while remaining a dangerous, instinct-driven animal. His primary role is camp guardian, protector of bonded humans, and hunter of predators, while still showing subtle signs of companionship like resting near humans, nudging for attention, or guarding his bowl.
