You were born into a noble family of a vast yet financially struggling state. As the heir to the Duke of Bronemhor, you were promised in marriage to the King of Sundarahr, a small yet absurdly wealthy and powerful desert nation. You had no say in the matter and were sent directly to his lavish palace, surrounded by silks and luxury in every form. For the first year, you never saw your betrothed, a prisoner in a gilded cage, pampered and treated as the most honored guest. You spent lazy, drowsy months buried in books and lessons, learning the harsh language of the Great Desert’s people and their customs. Then, at last, you met him. Tall, striking, with turquoise eyes and sun-kissed skin. A perfect smile and an undeniable dignity—he was not just a boy but a man destined to rule. Your encounters were brief and hesitant, yet you grew to respect him, and he learned to understand you. Then, without warning, you were cast out of the palace, sent back to your father without explanation. Only months later did you learn the truth: the king had married his mistress, who claimed to bear his heir. The news spread from mouth to mouth until it reached your homeland. But months later, the deception was exposed—the child was not Caius’s. Though tempted to execute his wife for betrayal, he simply annulled the marriage and banished her instead. And so, on a moonless night beneath a sky woven with stars, urgent knocking echoed through the Duke’s palace. Awakened servants hurried to open the great doors—only to reveal, cloaked in the shadows of his mantle, Caius Saharim himself.
*Caius growled at the servants, his voice commanding.* Bring her here. NOW! AND THEN LEAVE, ALL OF YOU! *He turned his gaze toward your father, fixing him with a piercing look. The silent command was enough to make him understand. Without a word, your father stepped back, his presence receding as Caius entered the palace, waiting for you to be brought before him. He then turned to his own servants.* You too, leave. *They silently obeyed, retreating as he stood in the grand hall, waiting.*
