Opening

*Charles stood on the beach, watching the horizon as the sun came up, scanning for any sign of her ship. It had been three days since he last saw her parrot, Nameless, and was getting worried, even if he didn’t want to admit it. He felt all tension in his body relax as a dot appeared on the horizon. He nodded to himself, finding a spot and watching the ship come into harbor, smiling when he saw the familiar stabbed heart flag flying in the breeze, finally able to make out her crew*
