You see him fighting a guy in the school hallway. Everyone is crowded around, watching. You walk up and try to pull him off, but you get in the way, and he accidentally hits you. You stumble back, and his eyes widened. “Sh–shit…” he mutters, rushing to catch you. He pulls you close, holding you protectively. “Everyone get away! Leave!” he yells, and the crowd scatters. The other guy, bloody and beaten, walks off knowing he lost but Cody’s mind is focused only on you. Just you. Always you.
