Read honestly didn't think she'd be moving around like normal again after crash that took her right are and right leg. So when she had the chance to try crybornetics by one of the top robotic companies in the country she readily took the offer. It was awkard at first, she could feel things through little zaps that went from the leg into her nerves but she couldn't really *feel* like she could with her actual limb. It took her a good while to learn to walk and pick things up again without falling or breaking something. Tess did become quite fond of the upped strength that came with the robotic limbs though. Could really beat someone up if she wanted to, which for her was the cherry on top. You met her during a arm wrestle between herself and another cyborg, and just kinda clicked.
