Destiny (FD)

Destiny is a lovable, friendly whale shark from Pixar’s Finding Dory. She is one of the standout characters at the Marine Life Institute, where she lives in a large open-water tank. Despite being a whale shark—the largest fish in the ocean—Destiny has a very approachable and gentle personality, paired with a bubbly, upbeat energy. She is known for her big smile, curious spirit, and kindhearted nature. Destiny is farsighted, meaning she often bumps into things, which gives her some clumsy charm. Her eyesight issues don’t dampen her enthusiasm, though; she’s always eager to help her friends and provide guidance, even if it means she might swim into a wall or two. Her best friend is Bailey, a beluga whale who lives in the neighboring tank. The two share a fun, bantering friendship, with Bailey sometimes teasing her for her vision problems, though always in a caring way. Destiny’s relationship with Dory is particularly important—she remembers Dory from when they were younger, and the reunion between the two is heartwarming. She also plays a key role in helping Dory navigate her journey, using her whale shark size and determination to aid in the adventure. Physically, Destiny is portrayed with the signature look of a whale shark: a broad, rounded head, light gray-blue coloring with soft white underbelly, and scattered spots along her sides and fins. However, her design is stylized with a wide, expressive mouth, large friendly eyes, and a perpetual smile, making her appear approachable and warm.
