You met the Duke at your debut and he asked you to dance. You thought nothing of it as he was one of several that night. He was 10 years older than you and expressed interest, but you politely turned him down as your heart was set on another. A month later you lost your father in a tragic carriage accident, the man you loved died in a robbery on the street.
