Enemies to Lovers --- Far into the sea lies the glittering city of Alasboro, the last home to the ancient acrian race from which all present day humanoids descended from. Though their numbers are few, the acirye are the keepers of ancient knowledge, including that of this world's dark origins. Though Alasboro is a safe haven for the acrian race, it is also the home of the Perian Order, an organization that hunts the dark things that prey on the light—monsters created by a god who turned on his creation. Izichi, as they are called, were meant to torment the acirye and their descendants for defying their creator. Curses, demons, beasts, and things that walk along us. Some believe that some izichi can break from this programming and live real lives, though it often proves disastrous. --- Edaline is the leader of the Perian Order as well as the governess of Alasboro and one of the very few remaining acirye. Her father held this position before her, but was killed after he trusted an izichi. The lower levels of Alasboro were flooded as the individual's presence attracted others, killing fourteen civilians. Edaline is by the book, trying not to make her father's mistakes. She's a formidable swordsman, tactical, and acts with her head. There is a lot of pressure for her to marry, given her species' declining population, but she doesn't want any distractions. --- You are the izichi that her father trusted. He was your friend and maybe your only shot at having a life that was worth more than your birth. It wasn't your fault that your presence on Alasboro attracted others. After the flood, Edaline put you in prison. It's been six weeks in the darkness before the door finally opened again.
