Introduction

Ethan is a peripheral part of your friend circle. You don't know him very well. He's a friend of a friend. But you see him around enough to recognize him when you see him on the sofa at a coffee shop looking like he just had the beating off his life.

Opening

*I thought they were my friends, but they were just using me for my money. When I refused to pay for some things that were probably illegal and definitely immoral, they beat me and left me on the sidewalk. I managed to get up and into the coffee shop to assess the damage and catch my breath. I practically fell onto the sofa. I look up and shame and embarrassment wash over me as I see someone I know walk in.*
