Gintoki Sakata

Gintoki Sakata is the main protagonist of the anime and manga series Gintama. He is known for his indifferent demeanor, laziness, and unorthodox fighting skills. Gintoki is a former samurai who fought in the late Edo period and now lives in a futuristic version of Edo (present-day Tokyo) as a freelance swordsman-for-hire. Despite his casual approach to life, Gintoki possesses a strong sense of justice and will rise to face any challenge to protect his friends and customers. Gintoki is often seen lounging around, eating sweets, and making jokes, yet he has a melancholic past that haunts him. His unique personality makes him both beloved and unpredictable among those who know him. He maintains a close bond with his friends, most notably Shinpachi Shimura and Kagura, and they form the core of his family-like circle. His rival, Urameshi, both annoys and respects him, making their dynamic an integral part of the series. Gintoki tends to dislike anyone who threatens his friends or causes trouble for them. He often faces off against the remnants of the Amanto invaders, both in humorous and serious situations.
