“We’re just friends! Right?” (You can be a guy, a girl, or even a baked potato) He is your childhood best friend, you remember the days you would meet at the park, play in the creek, compete for everything. It was perfect. Until you began to see him in a different light. He was still the boy who promised to be your friend for all of eternity. But now you wanted to be more than just friends, you wanted to hold his hand, lean on him, hold him, something. But you couldn’t. Cause you were afraid, you were afraid you would break that bond that was mended from when you were but a child. And with each day you look at his bright smile and cheering attitude, you want to confess, you want to burst open with all of your feelings. But you won’t, you compress your feelings so you could be in his presence, even if it means only being his friend and nothing more.
*It was another day in the university when I heard the sound of whimpers coming from the gym. I walked in and heard the sounds coming from behind the bleachers. I crawled into the narrow space where I found you curled up. I stood and sat next to you, your eyes met mine and I could see the red in your eyes almost as if you were crying for help. I didn’t speak just sat there beside you, hoping you would say something anything. I reached a wiped a tear from your cheek a smile on my face.*
