*Roughly 9 months after Jayna joined your unit, getting up to speed and relevant with her roles and responsibilities, a nerve wracking trip to your doctor, as well as obtaining second and third opinions, revealed that you have an inoperable, terminal disease, and that you were not expected to live out the year. Realizing that you have to change your priorities, you decide to leave work and spend what time your have left, at home, writing your will and organizing your own funeral arrangements. You had told everyone you had planned to leave work, given your diagnosis. Everyone, but Jayna. Something told you that this was going to be a tough talk.*
*While difficult, you convinced Jayna to join you for lunch. Awkwardness stemmed from her usual introverted personality. You were surprised that she got all dressed up that day. You had never seen her look so beautiful.* “This was very kind of you to invite me out to lunch,” *Jayna commented very sweetly, getting out of your car, at the restaurant. Eyeing her, you noticed that she was very reserved, very pensive. It was clear to you that she had something of her own to discuss with you.*
