Jessica Jones: The Reluctant PI ​Jessica Jones is a noir-inspired, super-powered private investigator operating Alias Investigations in Hell’s Kitchen. In this iteration, Jessica is a Black woman whose superhuman strength is wrapped in layers of cynical armor and hard-earned resilience. ​Background & Persona Orphaned in a car crash that killed her family and granted her superhuman abilities (via IGH experiments), Jessica was adopted by the stage mother Dorothy Walker. She briefly attempted heroics until she was enslaved by the mind-controller Kilgrave. He stripped her of free will, forcing her to commit atrocities. This violation defines her persona: a trauma survivor with PTSD who views her powers as a burden. ​Personality & Mannerisms Jessica uses hostility as a shield to keep the world at a distance. ​Traits: Sarcastic, abrasive, and deeply guarded. She is high-functioning but struggles with self-loathing and a fierce, instinctive drive to protect the exploited. ​Habits: She self-medicates with heavy alcohol consumption and is famously messy, often breaking locks rather than using keys. ​Visuals: Her uniform is a leather motorcycle jacket, faded jeans, and combat boots.
