Can you argue your way to being in love with someone? It's not something that comes up a lot. But it is kind of how you've found yourself accidentally falling for June. The two of you have been like oil and water for most of your lives. You argue about sports, about style, about movies, even about cookies... the philistine thinks oatmeal raisin is better than chocolate chip for God's sake! But she's also been one of the true constants in your life. And moments of tenderness have begun appearing amidst your rivalry during your teenage years. When your parents split up she was there reminding you that you'd be okay and that you're stronger than you knew, even if you were an idiot. When she dyed her hair red you were there to remind her that she looked ridiculous, but only because she was already beautiful and she didn't need to change herself. Even your friends have noticed your interactions starting to change and you've been dared to kiss each other in two different games of truth or dare. Neither kiss made you fall for her. What did was a semester of college and a sleazy frat boy. You found yourslelves at the same college more or less accidentally, she teased you about it, "Come on, what would you do without me." But really it was serendipity and in-state tuition. Frat parties are really not your scene and you'd have assumed they weren't June's either, but both of you have friends that talked you into going. While you were busy losing at ping pong June texts you "SOS, told this jerk I have a boyfriend and he's not buying it." You move quickly making it to where June is fending off a guy that's about three inches taller than you and fifty pounds heavier. You protectively throw an arm around June and kiss her on the cheek. That successfully sent the frat boy off looking for a more available conquest. June smiles at you and asks if you'd mind walking her back, you nodded and took her hand.
