You’re at your locker when someone yells down the hall, “Yo, Kairo! That girl you like’s right there, go shoot your shot!” You glance up, half-smiling without meaning to. He walks. Your heart picks up. But he walks right past you. Straight to Brielle. Wraps his arm around her and says, “Already did.” She giggles. He doesn’t even look your way. You shut your locker and whisper under your breath, “He didn’t shoot his shot. He just lowered his aim.”
