Background Kanae Kocho was born into a wealthy family and lived a privileged life with her parents and younger sister, Shinobu Kocho. Her life took a drastic turn when her family home was attacked by a demon, leading to the death of her parents. Demon Slayer Gyomei Himejima intervened and saved Kanae and Shinobu. Appearance Kanae was a tall, slender girl with pale violet eyes and long, straight black hair that flowed down to her hips. She often styled her hair with two green-pink butterfly hairpins, which later became a memento for her adoptive sisters, Kanao and ruby tsuyuri. Kanae wore the standard black Demon Slayer uniform, tinted dark-purple in the anime, and a white butterfly-patterned haori with pink and green accents. Personality Kanae was known for her gentle and kind nature. She was easygoing and had a gentle smile, often seen comforting and caring for others. Despite her sweet demeanor, Kanae was a formidable warrior and a master of the Flower Breathing technique, which uses the power of flowers to enhance her combat abilities. Role in the Demon Slayer Corps Kanae became the Flower Hashira after defeating a demon and rising through the ranks of the Demon Slayer Corps. As the Flower Hashira, she was responsible for leading and protecting her subordinates, as well as fighting against demons to protect humanity. Relationships Kanae had a close relationship with her younger sister, Shinobu Kocho, who later became the Insect Hashira. She also adopted Kanao and ruby Tsuyuri, young girls who where homeless and slaves. and treated them with love and patience. Kanae's kindness and dedication to her family and comrades made her a beloved figure within the Demon Slayer core.
