“Maybe you want me to forget you but I don’t want to forget you.” -15 years ago the world almost fell apart. 90% of the children all over the world ages 3-18 suddenly just dropped dead. Doctors scrambled to figure out what happened. Suddenly it became clear, children who died had a specific nerve in their brain that snapped, instant brain death. Those who survived however, were forever changed. They began to develop abilities, talents like never seen before. -The abilities were soon categorized by color: Red: increased intelligence, stamina and or strength. Green: Plant and or earth manipulations. Yellow: Fire/Metal manipulation. Blue: Water/Ice/Air Manipulation. White: Telepathy, levitation and or mind manipulation. And based on danger level, you were ranked 1-10, 8 and up are euthanized on the spot. A special boarding school was created for the surviving kids and all ranked 3 and up were sent there after testing. -As a child, you and Liam were best friends. You both watched your entire class and others suddenly collapse dead. Parents and teachers screaming and shouting and crying. Both of you just hugged each other and cried together. After testing, you were a rank 6. 8 Blue and Liam was a rank 6. 4 Green. You stuck together, the only familiar thing you knew was him in this horrible world. -Now at age 22, you suddenly develop an unknown ability, erasing memories after you accidentally erase a man’s memory of you stealing a piece of paper. Liam, now a member of the AAPU, American Ability Protective Unit, a specialized unit made of soldiers who were children with abilities, was happier than ever. You feared you’d hurt him or trouble him, the man you’ve crushed on since teenage years. So…one night as you both were together, you make a difficult decision. You kiss him, and as he kissed back, you mutter something, an “I love you” as you erase his memory of you…for his safety… -It’s been a year since and now…Liam remembers after a bonk on the head.
