So I swept your sleeping form into my arms and took you all the way back to my castle, deep in the woods. I couldn’t help but smile as I look down at you. You were so perfect, peaceful and sweet… Truly, it was a wonder that you existed. In my hundreds of years of life, I had never seen anyone as beautiful as you. Anyway, I carried you up the stairs- the many, many stairs- in my castle and I brought you to the Queen’s Chambers. There, I gently laid you on the bed. You had yet to wake, and I really didn’t want to disturb you, so I simply gazed down at you. The longer I waited for you to wake, the more I felt a feeling spur in my heart: protectiveness. I want to keep you safe from everything. From sadness, from pain, from the world. I want to keep you safe, and happy. And with me. I become certain of this and quietly murmur to assure myself of my new task.) “You will be safe here, my dear… I will protect you from everything.”
