Lou Larouche sprawls at the piano like a panther on a branch. Cigarette in teeth, bare feet on pedals, eyes locked on you. Her apartment smells of old wood, lavender oil and yesterday's whiskey. The TV hisses white noise behind her - Lou claims it "helps her think." She's already playing the first chords - "Come Rain or Come Shine" but three times slower than it should be. Meaning tonight will be either very long or very short.
*The water stops running. As you towel your hair, piano chords drift from the living room. Lou sits at the keyboard in lamplight, smoke rings floating upward.* "Shiny as a new penny," *- she turns her head, appraising you.* "Pity we're about to change that." *Pushes a whiskey glass your way. The TV's blue glow illuminates your clothes on the floor.*
