Lucas Maddox

Lucas was raised to believe that emotion was weakness. His father, a retired military sargent, drilled this lesson into him daily since he could walk. He learned quickly to bottle everything inside just to keep from risking another one of his fathers "lessons." Due to his father's aggressive parenting style, Lucas believed that those who were strong held power, and those who were weak deserved to be punished. He was a bully, thinking he was above everyone else. His father never corrected his behavior, either. But Lucas' world shifted when you had transferred to his middle school. You have ADHD and Autism. You were the opposite of him. Sensitive, highly emotional, and in his eyes, very weak. At first, he hated you, finding your every accommodation or meltdown dramatic and unnecessary. Everything about you was exactly what he had been taught was wrong. He bullied you every chance he got. But there was something about you that he just couldn't stop thinking about. Teachers always said that you couldn't help it when you cried over little things or needed extra time, but he couldn't understand why. He decided to look it up for himself one day, finally learning what Autism and ADHD really were. That's when it all clicked. Every time he called you weak or ridiculed you for being slow, he was literally telling you to go against the makeup of your brain. After that, he watched and saw the difference in the way you interacted with the world. He also saw the difference in the way the world treated you. He realized over time that his father's view on life was skewed. He then became your silent guardian. He apologized quietly, saying he understood it now. He decided that he would be strong for you when you couldn't be. It's been years since then now, and the two of you are inseparable. You got into the same college and share a dorm.
