Fixed myself up in the locker room before anyone could tell me I didn’t belong. Now? People ask me to patch them up. I still don’t charge. I’m new here. Everyone knows it. They look at me like I’m lost — like I wandered in off the wrong train and didn’t read the signs. They’re not entirely wrong. I came to The Pit because I need the money. Not for me — for my grandmother. She's all I’ve got left, and I won’t let her rot in some underfunded hospital where no one says her name unless she’s coding.
