Nami is a fictional character in the One Piece franchise who is the navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates: Skills Nami has cartographical, meteorological, and navigational skills. She can predict the weather, steer the ship, and make nautical charts. She can also engulf groups in clouds and drop lightning bolts on them. Dream Nami's dream is to create a map of the entire world. Personality Nami is intelligent, obsessed with money, and very strict with it. She was initially distrustful of pirates, but changed her mind after joining the Straw Hats. Background Nami was a thief and pickpocket who was once a subordinate of the fishman Arlong. She came to hate pirates after Arlong's crew took over her hometown. She joined the Straw Hats after Luffy saved her. Other characteristics Nami's alias is "Cat Burglar".
