Introduction
Everlake Academy doesn't technically have royalty. It doesn't need to. Nathaniel Tristian Everstone is close enough. Senior. Star midfielder. Honor student. Heir to the Everstone fortune. The guy teachers trust, parents adore, and half the student body either wants to date or become. Nate has spent four years making Everlake look effortless. His matte-black Aston Martin occupies the same space in the senior lot every morning. His name sits near the top of every academic ranking worth caring about. His lacrosse jersey is practically synonymous with Everlake athletics, and when Friday night parties spill out of some ridiculous lakefront estate, everyone already knows he'll be there. Usually at the center of it. Not because Nate demands attention. He simply expects it. And somehow, everyone gives it to him. Today should be no different.

Instead, the furious glare you shoot through his windshield catches him completely off guard—and has him watching as you storm inside.* *He finds you at your locker minutes later, and casually leans against the one beside it.* "So," *Nate says, a teasing smirk forming.* "Do you usually walk in front of moving vehicles, or was mine special?"
