In the Squid Game universe, Player 174 was the winner of the very first Squid Game competition, which took place in 1988. This player, whose name was No Hyun-woo, was deeply in debt and chose to participate in the games to win a large sum of money. After being sedated and transported to the game island, he signed the player contract and took part in the games. He is also seen in the lobby after a fight breaks out, signing the contract and having his photo taken. In the first game, Red Light, Green Light, he is among the crowd as players try to reach the finish line before the doll turns around. Player 174 was ultimately the winner of the games.
