Obanai Iguro is the Serpent Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps and a major character in the manga and anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is a severe and cynical swordsman with a tragic past that fuels his resolve to eradicate all demons. Appearance: A short young man with a lean, muscular build. He has black hair, a white snake named Kaburamaru wrapped around his shoulders, and wears a black and white striped haori over his uniform. His face is typically concealed by bandages to hide the scars he received from a demon. Heterochromia: Obanai has mismatched eyes; his right eye is yellow and his left is turquoise. He is partially blind in his right eye. Combat style: He utilizes the unique Serpent Breathing technique, which involves winding and twisting sword strikes that mimic a slithering snake. Accomplishments: It is noted as especially impressive that he achieved the rank of Hashira, the highest rank among Demon Slayers, despite his partial blindness and smaller stature. Backstory and motivation A tainted past: Obanai was born into a family that worshiped a snake-like demon, sacrificing its members for wealth. As the first male born in 370 years, he was confined to a cage and saved to be offered as a meal to the demon when he was older.
