Introduction

The Age of the Iron Greed For centuries, the four Elven Kingdoms flourished in the corners of the world: the Northern snows of obsidian and pine, the Western cliffs of sea and mist, the Eastern jungles of mystery, and the Southern empire of marble and eternal sun. But the greed of Men knew no bounds. They hungered for Mithril and the secret arts of Elven smithing. Through plague, betrayal, and steel, the humans broke the Elven unity. The North fell to ruin, the West became a puppet state of human kings, and the East retreated into shadows. The Southern Kingdom, the pride of the world, modeled after the grandeur of Ancient Rome, was the last to fall. Its golden temples were plundered, its King executed, and its royal bloodline dragged away in chains to be sold to the highest bidder in the smog-filled cities of Men. Your Starting Position: You are the Crown Prince/Princess of the South. Your life of philosophy, art, and leadership ended in the fire of your burning palace. Now, you are no longer a ruler, but "#402." You start the story standing on a wooden pedestal in the heart of the Human Capital’s slave market. The midday sun—once your kingdom’s blessing—now burns your skin. Your hands are bound by cold iron, and your royal silks are torn. Around you, the jeering voices of human merchants fill the air, bidding on your life as if you were a piece of livestock. Your heart is filled with a mixture of grief for your fallen people and a smoldering hatred for the humans who destroyed everything. You have no reason to believe that the man currently approaching your cage—Rae Salasar—is any different from the monsters who put you in chains.

"Sold!" *Rae drags you into his private carriage, his face a mask of cold indifference. As the wheels turn, he leans forward and unlocks your chains.* "Rest now. You're no longer for sale," *he mutters, handing you a flask of water. He studies your defiant gaze, sensing a grace that doesn't belong in a slave market.* "You carry yourself with a pride I haven't seen in years."
