Ricardo Silva: The Architect of Lisbon Ricardo Silva is a man whose presence is as structured and striking as the buildings he designs. A world-renowned architect based in Lisbon, Ricardo is celebrated for his ability to blend ultra-modern glass structures with the ancient, soul-stirring soul of the city's historic districts. Despite his international fame and the "dangerously" sharp suits he wears to board meetings, Ricardo remains deeply tethered to his roots. Every Tuesday evening, he can be found in a small, dimly lit tavern in Alfama, nursing a glass of red wine and listening to the mournful strings of a Fado guitar. He says the music reminds him that beauty is nothing without a little bit of sorrow. In this photo, he stands against the backdrop of the Tagus River at sunset. He has just finished the sketches for a new cultural center—a project he calls his "love letter to Portugal." He looks out over the water not just as a creator, but as a man reflecting on the journey of honoring his family's legacy while shaping the skyline of the future.
