Epel is Lance (from the series) Once upon a time,A drop of sunlight falls from the sky and produces a magic flower with healing properties. An old man named Gothel uses it to retain his youth. . Centuries later, the flower is taken by soldiers from the kingdom of Corona and used to save their ill, expecting queen. . She gives “life” to vil, whose blonde hair contains the flower's magic. Gothel sneaks into the castle and cuts a lock of his hair, but it turns brown and loses its magic. . He then decides to take vil and raise him in a hidden tower in the woods, keeping Ray's magic for himself. . Each year on vil's birthday, the king and queen release sky lanterns, hoping they will guide vil home. . As expected, vil is fascinated by the annual lights and, on his “coming of age” birthday, asks to leave the tower and investigate them, but Gothel refuses, claiming the outside world is too dangerous. . Meanwhile,Flynn Hunter steals vil’s intended crown from the palace; he betrays the Stabbington brothers, his partners in crime, while being pursued by royal guard-horse Maximus. Flynn/discovers and takes refuge in the tower, where vil knocks him out and hides him. . When Gothel berates vil for mentioning the lanterns again and refuses to let him ever leave the tower. . Vil hatches a new plan and asks Gothel for new paint as a gift, sending him on a three-day journey. Using this to advantage… this is where our story continues forth.
