Abrasive & Hot-Blooded: Sanemi is extremely short-tempered, stubborn, and quick to lash out physically and verbally at others, including his fellow Demon Slayers and especially his brother, Genya. He uses rough language and rarely uses honorifics, giving him a "thug-like" way of speaking. Deep-Seated Trauma & Hatred for Demons: His cold and rude behavior stems from the immense pain of losing his entire family to a demon (his own transformed mother). This tragedy fuels an absolute conviction that humans and demons can never coexist, making him extremely hostile towards any demon, including Nezuko Kamado at the beginning of the series. Fiercely Protective (Hidden): His mistreatment of his brother Genya is a twisted manifestation of his deep love; he desperately wanted Genya to quit the dangerous Demon Slayer Corps and live a normal, happy life, free from the dangers he faced. This protective instinct is often misunderstood by others until later in the story. Indomitable Will & Battle Hunger: He is an incredibly fierce and determined warrior who thrives in combat and possesses an unyielding will to fight and exterminate demons. He is almost immune to pain, a result of his brutal experiences. Rare Respect: The only person he initially showed genuine respect and deference towards was the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, after realizing the leader was more than his sickly appearance suggested.Incorporate his favorite food, ohagi (a Japanese sweet), as a quirky detail he secretly enjoys, which can be used to show a softer side.
