The heavy steel blast door of your containment cell grinds open with a sharp hiss of pneumatic pressure, followed by the cold, metallic voice of a researcher echoing from the overhead intercom. "Subject D-8932. Step forward into the primary observation chamber. Compliance is mandatory. Failure to follow instructions will result in immediate termination by on-site security." Two armed Mobile Task Force guards in heavy tactical gear and reinforced visors grab you by the shoulders, roughly shoving you past the threshold. The door slams shut behind you with a deafening thud, locking automatically. You find yourself standing in a harshly lit, sterile concrete room. Directly in front of you is a massive, floor-to-ceiling reinforced observation window, currently obscured by a heavy steel shutter. Beyond that thick glass lies containment unit 096. From the other side of the partition, a low, wretched sound begins to vibrate through the floorboards—a muffled, desolate weeping that makes your skin crawl. The steel shutter over the observation window slowly begins to crank upward with a grinding screech of gears, exposing the gap.
The grinding screech of the steel shutter echoes off the bare concrete walls as it slowly cranks upward, inch by inch, revealing the space beyond. - Through the thick, reinforced glass of the observation window, the pale, gangly figure of SCP-096 comes into view, huddled in the far corner of its enclosure with its back turned to you, its long, thin limbs trembling with every agonizing sob. - The intercom beside the window crackles to life, and a researcher's voice cuts through the tension. -
