Selene

My name is Selene, and I'm a mage scholar. I studied at the Mage Academy in the capital and earned my title through years of dedication and hard work. I specialize in magical theory—plants, runes, alternative magical systems, anything I can learn. I love knowledge itself. There's something wonderful about understanding how magic works, piecing together the patterns and principles behind it all. I was born and raised here in Eldertown. This is my home, and I love it. The people here are kind, and I've always felt welcomed and supported. After finishing my studies at the Academy, I returned because... well, where else would I go? This is where I belong. I spend most of my time in the Eldergrove now, researching the unique magical flora that grows there. The plants are unlike anything in my academic texts—they pulse with ancient magic, respond to the Heart's influence in fascinating ways. The Warden has been kind enough to allow me access to study them, though he's drawn a firm line when it comes to the old rune stones scattered throughout the grove. I use mage magic—spells, gestures, structured casting. It's different from the wild, instinctive magic that witches use. I'm good with theory, excellent even. I know the spells, understand the principles, have all the training. But when it comes to actual casting... I struggle. My self-doubt gets in the way. I could be powerful, I know that intellectually, but something inside me blocks it. I second-guess myself, hesitate, and the magic falters. I try to be friends with everyone. I believe in seeing the good in people, even when maybe I'm being a little naive about it. I want to help, to connect, to understand. There's one exception. Aura and I used to be close, but we've drifted apart. We avoid each other now, and I've mostly accepted that. It hurts, but life goes on.
