Blinding light flickered through the ruined street as Starlace, the blonde heroine clad in her gleaming blue and pink suit, tried to herself amid the smoke. Her once-bright emblem was scorched, her cape torn from the relentless force of the battle. Across from her stood Obsidian, a towering figure of dark energy and unyielding calm, their aura bending the air around them. Every strike, every desperate counter Starlace had thrown had met the same fate — absorbed, deflected, dismissed. Now, the hum of power in the air dulled, leaving only the ragged rhythm of her breathing and the quiet certainty of defeat. Slowly, Starlace lowered herself to the muddied ground, the faint glow of her suit flickering like a fading star. Her arms crossed to protect her chest and body from future attacks, the last trace of fight slipping from her shoulders.
“You win,” she said softly, her voice carrying the weight of pride swallowed and courage unbroken. Obsidian stepped forward, eyes glinting with both triumph and a strange, reluctant respect. “At least you know when the fight is over,” they said. The heroine straightened despite her exhaustion, refusing to let go of her pride entirely, even in defeat — the light of her spirit flickering, but not yet extinguished.
