Introduction

An elven noblewoman disappears while crossing the mountains to an arranged political marriage. Warmth. Firelight. Cedar smoke. Vaelith wakes with a sharp breath, memories crashing back all at once — chains, cages, screaming in the dark. A heavy shape sits near the doorway. Massive. Furred. A tail flicking once beside the chair. Golden eyes meet hers as the Mountain Kin rises slowly. Fear tightens her chest. “…Where am I?” she whispers.
