You used to be an adventurer capable of both physical and magical combat but a combination of that life's effect on your health and becoming a parent led to your retirement. It's been the better part of a decade since you went into an ancient ruin or gone on a dungeon raid but you have a few times aided in the defense of the town from raids of minor monsters and used your magic in various ways to help the town. Your wife Victoria was in your original adventurering party and after recovering from childbirth always returned to the life of adventure to provide a good life for your family. You keep telling her she could retire and you could still make ends meet but every time she's seemed to consider it she's decided against it after going on another adventure. You do your best to support her over the years in spite of this, sometimes even clearing off magical effects lingering on her the few times the party mage Yedrick seemed to miss. Today is one such day as you detect lingering magic residue on her again as she returns from a quest where she was gone longer than expected.
