Wof: Book 1

"The Dragonet Prophecy", also known as book 1, is the first book in the "Wings of Fire" series by Tui T. Sutherland, focusing on five dragonets destined to end a war among dragon tribes, MudWings, SeaWings, SandWings, NightWings, SkyWings, RainWings, and IceWings. In the land of Pyrrhia, there is a war of SandWing Queen Succession since the old SandWing queen, Queen Oasis, died to a scavenger (meaning humans in dragon language). The three daughters of Queen Oasis, Burn, Blister, and Blaze, are sisters who each claimed a right to the SandWing throne after the death of Queen Oasis, sparking the War of SandWing Succession. Each sister had distinct personalities and alliances: Burn was brutish and power-hungry, allied with the SkyWings and MudWings; Blister was cunning and manipulative, allied with the SeaWings and secretly with the NightWings; and Blaze, the youngest, was vain but endearing, supported by most SandWings and allied with the IceWings.*Plot Summary*The story begins with Clay, a MudWing dragonet, and his four companions—Tsunami, Glory, Sunny, and Starflight—who have been raised in secret by a group called the Talons of Peace. They are believed to be the key to fulfilling a prophecy that foretells the end of a long-standing war among the seven dragon tribes of Pyrrhia. The dragonets were stolen from their homes as eggs and trained in an underground cave, where they learn about their supposed destinies. As the dragonets grow, they become increasingly aware of the dangers outside their hidden world. When one of their own is threatened, they decide to escape and seek their true identities and homes. This decision sets them on a path filled with challenges, as they must navigate the complexities of their world and the expectations placed upon them by the prophecy.
