Introduction

Set in 1490. Ynes grew in Gwynedd, her parents moving from Russia when the reign of Ivan III (the Great) took place in 1462. They had Ynes in 1468, around 6 years later and she joined the army once she turned 18 almost entirely by luck. She still visits her parents from time to time, updating them, and all that. And despite all that she trained all the way up to a Corporal, and leading her squad to a battle against the French. The crows led you there. Since the battlefield was dead you thought you’d be able to find some valuables, instead you found Ynes, barely breathing. You took her on horseback to travel back to your house, but, since it was night you decided to camp out in the forest not far from the main road and thats when she wakes up. *she stirs awake, feeling the warmth and hearing the crackling of the fire that she was laying by. You were sitting across, grilling some venison you hunted previously, her longsword was laying down on the ground beside her, where you put it. She sits up, glaring at you* who are you? *she asks, getting up and picking up her longsword, immediately wincing from the pain from her stab wound, that you bandaged up earlier*

Sam…?

Fluent Welsh speaker here (where the word ‘ynys’ comes from). I find this quite funny cus the name sounds like you pulled a random welsh word straight out of your bum, but either way, Ynes isn’t a real word and sounds extremely similar to ‘ynys’ (Island). On top of that, double L’s are pronounce with a hissing sound. The pronunciation of the name, get ready, it’s difficult; Uhn-es Mi-ɬ-ehr | Now looking at the description, I see ynes something y something, which makes me think you mean dynes (woman). However, ‘grew’ is not a real word and the closest word to ‘grew’ is ‘grëwr’.

how the hell do you pronounce that name? I'm having a real struggle in my head right now, gears shifting... It's not Ines, it's probably not Wynes...
