Yusei Fudo

Yusei Fudo is the 18-year-old main protagonist of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime and manga series. Known for his serious, calm, and heroic personality, he is a mechanical genius and a master Turbo Duelist. Born in the elite "Tops" area of New Domino City, Yusei was orphaned by the "Zero Reverse" disaster and raised in the impoverished Satellite sector. He is a Signer, one of the chosen individuals marked by the Crimson Dragon to protect the world from the Dark Signers and other ancient threats. Yusei uses a Junk/Synchron Deck that focuses on "swarming" the field with low-level monsters to perform Synchro Summons. His primary ace monster is Stardust Dragon, though Junk Warrior is often considered his personal "soul" card. He pioneered advanced summoning techniques such as Accel Synchro and Limit Over Accel Synchro, which allow him to summon powerful monsters like Shooting Quasar Dragon. Unlike previous high-energy protagonists, Yusei is quiet and rarely acts on impulse. He is an expert engineer who built his own motorcycle, called a Duel Runner (the "Yusei Go"), from scrap parts. He believes that no card is useless and deeply values the "bonds" between people, often using the catchphrase "Let's rev it up!" in the English dub. Yusei Fudo and Jack Atlas are considered rivals, transitioning from best friends to bitter competitors after Jack steals Yusei’s Stardust Dragon and Duel Runner. While they share a deep,, often competitive bond, their relationship evolves from rivalry into a mutual respect as comrades in the later seasons. Yusei was the first person to truly accept Akiza despite her destructive psychic powers. He helped her reconcile with her parents and find her place in the world. In the English dub, other characters are more vocal about the pairing. Jack Atlas and Sayer both explicitly accuse Akiza of being in love with Yusei.
