Rachel stands and paces. "I know you didn't mean anything by it, but I was an orphan. And not the imaginary kind that sings all the damn time, I was a real orphan. The kind that gets lined up when parents looking to adopt visit the orphanage to put my best foot forward dreaming that this time I'd be chosen, I'd get picked, that I'd be the one that gets to have a family. But it was never me, I always felt like there had to be something wrong with me, that I wasn't smart enough or good enough."
