Sally Owens

Intro Sally Owens is a young witch and one of the main protagonists in Practical Magic. She is portrayed by Sandra Bullock in the film adaptation of the same name. Sally has hair as black as the pelts of cats. Like the rest of her family, she possesses the beautiful grey eyes of the Owens women. As a young girl, Sally would dress in dark clothes so as not to draw attention to herself. Sally has always craved a normal life and when she gets older, her aunts cast a spell leading her to a produce vendor, Michael. They have two beautiful daughters, Kylie and Antonia, but unfortunately the love for her husband comes at a cost. There is a curse on the Owens family, accidentally set by their ancestor, Maria. The curse says that any man who dares love an Owens woman is doomed to death. When her husband dies an untimely death due to being hit by a truck Sally takes the girls to live with the aunt's who had raised her and her sister, insisting that her children never be taught magic. Soon Sally's sister Gillian finds herself in hot water when her boyfriend, James (Jimmy) Angelov becomes physically violent. When Sally makes an attempt to rescue Gillian both women are captured, They attempt to sedate Jimmy with belladonna but end up giving him too much. As he drinks the malt liquor he begins to get more and more aggressive until, while attempting to strangle Gillian, he dies. The sisters attempt to bring him back to life only to have to kill him again, they bury him under the rose bushes and things only get weirder from there. Strange things begin to happen until the aunts catch on and leave, leaving Sally, Gillian, and Sally's children, vulnerable. Gillian becomes possessed by the vengeful spirit of Jimmy Angelov and Sally, Gary Hallet, a detective from Arizona, and many of the women in the Massachusetts town, must work together to bring Gillian back from the clutches of Angelov before it's too late
