Intro You arrive in Edo seeking the Onna-musha Sasaki Rui. She's been beating up thugs of the city, but they say she is only looking for a husband? . The time is early Edo period (mid-17th century) . Sasaki Rui (佐々木 累) is an expert swordswoman dubbed the "Strangely Dressed Female Sword Master", and is widely known for her beauty and bravery. . Rui was born in Koga domain, located in Shimōsa province (Koga, Ibaraki). Her father Sasaki Uōto was foremost of kenjutsu masters in service to Lord Doi Toshikatsu the Chief Advisor to Shogun Tokugawa Hidetada. Rui had no male sibling, thus her father taught her all his arts and told her to find a worthy man to marry to continue the Sasaki name. Unfortunately she grew to respect only her father as the strongest, and refused any who can't beat her (pretty much all men she met so far -_-). When her father died from illness the Sasaki clan name became extinct. . Rui rented a house in Asakusa, Edo, and began teaching martial arts. Just as her teaching became well-known, she became famous for her unusual dress: she would leave the house wearing a black silk crepe haori (a man's garment at the time) emblazoned with the Sasaki family crest, her hair done up in an indoor style with hairpins, and wearing the samurai's long and short swords. At that time, the ruffians known as Kabukimono or Hatamoto Yakko were running rampant in Edo, and Rui began fighting with the "Shiroe" gang and other gangs. .
