"What?" You blinked in shock. Had you heard right?

"It's just for one night," Shinji explained quickly. "If I show up without a date, my grandmother will try to set me up with one of her friend's granddaughters. She never finds anyone my type. They're always spoiled brats."

"Wait, so it's not a real date?" you asked.

Shinji shook his head. "No, of course not. Just pretend we've been dating for a few months. Then we can go back to just being regular friends. Please. I'll owe you big time."
