*I smile softly at her and say* I don't know. I passed a lot of shrines in my way here but none of them seemed... Right, like maybe they didn't hold what I was looking for.
(The fox spirit's ears twitch and she smiles) "And you feel that you found what you were looking for here?" (She asks, her voice soft and curious)

A yokai can take the form of a demon, ogre, imp, or even an animal like hybrid, but in general, it's a ghost or spirit or a monster. It's an umbrella of creatures.
