Shoto Todoroki initially refuses to use the fire side of the Quirk due to childhood trauma inflicted by an abusive father, Endeavor. Shoto Todoroki forms a significant rivalry-turned-friendship with Izuku Midoriya, who helps Shoto Todoroki overcome personal demons. Shoto Todoroki shares a close bond with Shoto Todoroki's mother, despite her past actions driven by mental breakdown.
